{"id":2,"date":"2010-06-27T09:31:36","date_gmt":"2010-06-27T14:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/notafraidofyourpain.com\/blog\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2010-12-11T14:47:45","modified_gmt":"2010-12-11T14:47:45","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/notafraidofyourpain.com\/blog\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"Our story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>I\u2019m not afraid of your pain: The Jason Cartwright Memorial Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I stumbled upon\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twloha.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">To Write Love On Her Arms<\/a> one day on the web.\u00a0 I was awestruck by the sheer awesomeness of what this virtual stranger had created for someone.\u00a0 One person. He felt that her story mattered, and aimed for it to be heard by others.<\/p>\n<p>I also stumbled upon\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hopeline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hopeline<\/a> while pursing\u00a0<a href=\"www.postsecret.com\" target=\"_blank\">post secret<\/a> one day.\u00a0\u00a0 It saddened me greatly to read these stories, to read\u00a0 about other people\u2019s pain.\u00a0 However, it drove them to make a difference.<\/p>\n<p><em>I was inspired.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although I thought to myself could I truly make that much of a difference?\u00a0 Could I and I alone as one person make that much of an impact on someone\u2019s, anyone\u2019s life?\u00a0 At the time I didn\u2019t know if I could and I am ashamed to say that it didn\u2019t even cross my mind to really even try.\u00a0 Perhaps it was because I thought I needed a reason, something to create a driving force behind my need, want and desire to do this.<\/p>\n<p>On September 3rd 2009, tragically I had one.<\/p>\n<p>That was the day that my best friend, my confidant and business partner took his own life.\u00a0 His name is Jason Cartwright and he was brilliant.\u00a0 Jason was one of the most selfless people I have ever had the privilege to know.\u00a0 I felt as if I failed him, that I and I alone could have saved him.\u00a0\u00a0 Jason was a diagnosed bio-polar, manic depressive, he was also an addict.\u00a0\u00a0 He was only 29.\u00a0 His suicide made headlines, yet awareness on suicide prevention and mental illness does not.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I don\u2019t think it ever has.<\/p>\n<p><em>We aim to change that.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With the support of Jason\u2019s mother Julie, I have created this foundation to not only honour the memory of my friend; to bring forth awareness that it<em><strong> is<\/strong><\/em> OK to talk about suicide, addiction and depression.\u00a0 I was reading an article on TWLOHA one day and I seen a quote by Jaime Tworkowski that said\u00a0<em>\u201c One of the most powerful things that a friend said to me while I was going through a difficult time was \u2019I want you to know that I\u2019m not afraid of your pain\u2019 \u201c.<\/em> That has stuck with me since I read that years ago.<br \/>\nWhich became the inspiration behind I\u2019m not afraid of your pain: The Jason Cartwright memorial foundation.<\/p>\n<p>I also want to honour the memory of those that we have all loved and lost to suicide, depression and\/or addiction;
