As previously mentioned in early February <\/a>we’re going to start talking more about LGBTQ.\u00a0 If you’re wondering why, it’s simple: they are a minority and minorities tend to get picked on because people are ignorant and don’t “get it” or choose not to -or- they’re just mean and therefore suck.<\/p>\n

I have a few friends that are transgendered and I accept them for who they are. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 They’re also willing to talk to me about what it’s actually like to be transgendered.\u00a0 Now please do keep in mind that I (being the founder and all) call all the shots around here \ud83d\ude09 I also have an open mind and a desire to learn.\u00a0 I feel that instead of “outing” someone for being different, why not take the time to learn<\/em> about them, their lifestyle and what it’s like for them to be “outside” of societies so called “norms”.<\/p>\n

I consider myself to be part of a minority.\u00a0 I know that might astound and\/or offend people however it’s true.\u00a0 I’m a natural redhead-less then 4% of the entire population have natural <\/em>red hair.\u00a0 So I used to get picked on for it a lot when I was a child.\u00a0 Now, well it works to my advantage, but I’ll save that story for my personal blog<\/a> ha ha.\u00a0 I’m also a Chef and that’s still<\/strong><\/span> a rarity even in 2011.\u00a0 In any case, save for one or two places I’ve worked I’ve always been the only<\/strong><\/span> woman.\u00a0 I also have 35% of my body tattooed and that too comes with it’s own form of judgments as well.<\/p>\n

So while I freely admit I have no clue what it’s like to be transgendered, I do know what it’s like to be different from what people are accustomed to.\u00a0 I like me, I love who I am.\u00a0 I could care less what others think, however this isn’t about me.\u00a0 At least not today.\u00a0 It’s about them, my friends who are brave enough and kind enough to open up to me about what it’s really like.<\/p>\n

So stay posted!<\/p>\n

Also I would just like to add that we at NAOYP embrace and accept everyone and anyone for who they are.\u00a0 If anyone who supports us has a problem with some of the topics we cover, we please ask that you keep it to yourself or leave.\u00a0 It’s really quite simple.<\/p>\n
