So it’s early, I’m trolling the ‘net\u00a0avoiding\u00a0housework <\/del>\u00a0looking for things for a project I have on the go at the moment. \u00a0Then I\u00a0stumbled\u00a0upon this on someone’s tumblr.<\/p>\n

“This was written by a little 6 year old girl. I babysit her and her two sisters – Rebecca and Mia, and before they go to bed they all sit down and write little prayers to God.<\/em><\/p>\n

This was the one that Hollie wrote last time, and it absolutely\u00a0broke my heart<\/strong>.\u00a0I mean, she\u2019s six years old and she thinks she\u2019s not beautiful. That\u2019s not right.\u00a0But she\u00a0is\u00a0beautiful,\u00a0absolutely gorgeous<\/strong>. She\u2019s got golden blonde hair, bright green eyes and a smile so beautiful that you melt a little inside when you see it.<\/em><\/p>\n

When their mum got home, I showed her Hollie\u2019s prayer, and she was devastated. She\u2019s a nurse so she\u2019s seen a lot of horrible things, but I have never seen her like that. And so I had to do something.<\/em><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re reading this, and if you have the slightest bit of a heart,\u00a0please reblog this<\/strong>, so that I can prove to Hollie that she\u00a0is\u00a0<\/strong>beautiful, and that she is so special, and that God made her exactly the way she is because He knows that He made her\u00a0perfect<\/strong>. Please give this beautiful little girl the confidence she deserves.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Now I’m not re-blogging this on tumblr. because I don’t have an account and likely can’t be bothered to get one. \u00a0Nor do I think that re-blogging this will be\u00a0beneficial to anyone, simply because true faith in yourself comes from within. \u00a0As I am fond of saying: “A million people in this world could believe in you and it doesn’t mean a damn thing until you believe in yourself<\/strong><\/span>.<\/em>”\u00a0 \u00a0However this touched me on a different kind of level. \u00a0This child is 6. \u00a0SIX years old and is asking God to make her\u00a0beautiful. \u00a0This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine a few years back when her young daughter asked her to go on a diet because some kid in kindergarten said she was fat.<\/p>\n

Is this how fucked up our society has become? \u00a0I know scores of adults who have image issues, I think we all do to a certain point. \u00a0However it’s that much more<\/em> disturbing when it’s coming from the mouth of a child. \u00a0Children are our future, children are supposed<\/em> to be innocent and pure. \u00a0What kind of society are we that it has such a level of\u00a0toxic image issues\u00a0already on the horizon?<\/p>\n

Something to think about.<\/p>\n
